From October 2013 HSE are no longer approving First Aid training providers. Having been an Approved HSE First Aid training provider since 1992,  BASP sought an alternative way of demonstrating our courses were delivered to an HSE Approved National Standard ensuring Quality Assurance is maintained: we joined forces with the SQA and became an SQA Approved Centre in April 2013 in preparation for this change.

Our EFAW & FAW courses are accredited qualifications, being delivered to the required National standard ensuring that our courses will continue to meet the requirements for the purposes of compliance with regulation 3(2) of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.  As an employer, HSE stipulate that ‘due diligence’ is required in your Selecting a Training Provider. Using an SQA Approved Centre gives the employer the ‘ready-made’ assurance of a training provider’s competence to deliver appropriate training.

Units, qualification structures and assessment principles meet the requirements of the Health and Safety First Aid Regulations. In addition the qualifications and units have been credit rated against the Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework (SCQF).

FAW and EFAW qualifications comply with the current version of the Assessment Principles for First Aid Qualifications and are assessed in accordance with the requirements of the units Emergency First Aid in the Workplace and Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace.
